About

 

Training for climbing  requires careful consideration and management of multiple variables, including the physical demands on the body. The BMC Physical Training 1 will provide you with an overview of the training principles applied to climbing and practical examples to target individual needs for yourself and your clients.

 

The learning outcomes for the day:

 

  • Describe the physical demands of climbing and how they inform the development of effective training programmes.
  • Identify and explain fundamental concepts and processes in human energy metabolism.
  • Identify and apply fundamental principles of training to structure a series of purposeful sessions.
  • Collect, interpret and evaluate information from the client’s performance to recommend actions to enable progression.

 

Please note this session includes a practical element, where participants are invited to engage in various training formats: climbing and strength training. If you experience limited mobility, or require individual adjustments, please let us know how can we best support your learning.

BMC FUNdamentals 1 & 2 are highly recommended before attending Physical Training 1.

 

ABOUT THE COACH:

As a coach specialised on working with performance athletes, I consider Physical Training 1 a very solid foundation for coaches who are learning the fundamental principles of training. On a personal level, this course appeals very much my geeky side!

 

This course is for coaches who are interested in progressing their clients (and themselves), with the intention to optimise performance.  Engaging with the Physical Training 1 course, will enable participants to try different training formats, gather resources and be signposted to continue their learning with the most up-to-date, best practises around training for climbing.

 

FEES:

You must be a registered member at Mile End Climbing Wall to attend this course. Please complete the online registration form prior to your visit. Mile End charges participants a single visit entry (£14.50 or £10 Concession - with valid ID).

 

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: 

 

By the Client (you): 

All cancellations must be made in writing and will be effective from the date of receipt by Fig8out.

- Full refund will be given for courses cancelled within 14 days of the date scheduled for the course on the MTUK website.

- If the cancellation request is within 7 days from the date of the course, only a partial refund will be given. 

- For any cancellation within 72 hours from the date of the course, no refund will be given. If you are unable to attend the course due to illness or emergency, you will be offered a space on another course run by Fig8out. 

 

By Fig8out:

In the event the course is cancelled by the provider, you will be offered:

- A full refund of all course fees

- Equivalent value of 1:1 coaching session

- It could be possible the course might have to be cancelled because of insufficient number of participants. Fig8out will notify clients with no less than 7 days notice, prior to the scheduled date for the course.
