The FUNdamentals Workshops are intended for climbers, instructors, and coaches who are keen to develop climbing skills for themself, as part of technical training or as a part of a dedicated coaching sessions.
The movement principles covered FUNdamentals 1 should be the basis for any climber - irrespective of the types of climbing they choose to participate in, be that indoor, competition, trad climbing, bouldering, sport climbing, or a combination of them all - and would be beneficial, even for participants who subsequently engage in other sports.
Content:
- Placing and moving the hips (Centre of Mass, Weight transfers)
- Footwork
- Handholds
- Barriers to learning and how to manage them
- Key communication when coaching
The workshop will be delivered in a relaxed way with plenty of chances to discuss a variety of approaches to the delivery of common climbing movements that participants can adapt to their own environment. Together we will explore and discuss how to develop climbers' movement and technique in a variety of environments which will include games-based learning and coaching drills and setups.
You'll have plenty of opportunity to take part in games and more formal coaching scenarios which will help to deepen your understanding, and, in turn make climbing and coaching easier.
You will need climbing shoes, something to take notes with and may need a harness & belay device if at a roped centre.
This course is resourced and you will receive supporting documentation to help you to deploy your new knowledge after the course.
