WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES:
THIS IS THE 2ND SESSION OF A 2 SESSIONS WORKSHOP - The Workshop will be delivered in 2 back-to-back Sessions through informal discussions and practical on-the-hill training. Meeting in the Meelmore Lodge main car park; £4 daily car parking fee applies, hiking into the Mournes and operating on the lower slopes of Slieve Meelmore on and around Spellack.
The day will cover 2 distinct topics:
NOTE: Candidates may attend Session 1 OR Session 2 OR Sessions 1 AND 2 - Please notify the Workshop Provider of attendance preference by text or email at time of booking.
1. 1pm to 4.15pm(ish): Leadership in the Mountains (including on Steep Ground) - Strategy, Techniques and Personal Styles.
2. 4.30pm(ish) to 8pm(ish): Night (Poor Visibility) Navigation - Techniques. This session will focus on the 'How To' and will include practical application of the Techniques discussed.
Led by Trevor Fisher of the Tollymore National Outdoor Centre (TNOC) - Trevor is the TNOC Centre Manager and a qualified Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor with extensive experience.
EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED:
Be prepared for a day in the mountains with regular stops for 'Look-Listen-Learn' sessions along the route.
CATERING/FOOD:
Dependant on participant preference and Workshop Leader agreement the day offers 3 options:
1. Remain on-the-hill for rucksack packed refreshments in-between Sessions.
2. Return to the car park for out-of-the-car / rucksack packed refreshments in-between Sessions.
3. Return to Meelmore Lodge for cafe refreshments in-between Sessions.
IMPORTANT: In order to facilitate Workshop back-to-back Session flexibility - bring sufficient drink, snacks, food for 7+ hours in the mountains.
Meelmore Lodge will be open the day of this Workshop from 8am to 5.30pm - these times were confirmed in-person by the Workshop Organiser / Author on Sun 05 Jan and differ from the online published times of 8.30am to 6pm.
NOTE: Hot food last orders is at 4.45pm with hot drinks and tray bakes available there after.

CANCELLATION PROCEDURE:
Not applicable as this is a Free Mountain Training Association Peer Led event.

Your CPD record - If you attend this event it counts as CPD, your 0.5 CPD point for each Session attended; 1 CPD point total for complete Workshop attendance, will automatically be added to your record in due course - you will not need to add it yourself.
