Trainee workshops are designed to support your journey towards becoming a professional Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor. They are an opportunity to build on your technical skills and develop your decision making post MCI training.
The aim of the workshops is to support your learning and understanding of the different techniques and principles that underpin safe practise as a Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor. The focus will be on the why’s, rather than the what in your practise. You will leave the day with a clearer picture of your future development needs and how to meet them, the day is not a form of mock assessment.
This day will provide trainees with the opportunity to practise the skills and techniques of safely managing clients in mountaineering terrain. It is an opportunity to build on your technical skills and develop your decision making post MCI training.
We will look at managing the rope with two people and the decisions and techniques you need to do this safely. This workshop will be run by Kath James.
Students should bring: 50m single rope, scrambling gear rack, minimum of two prussiks, personal mountaineering equipment and suitable mountaineering boots.
If you are a member of the Mountain Training Association (MTA) you will receive 1 CPD point for attending this workshop. Please note that as a trainee member of AMI you are not required to accrue CPD points, therefore this will not count as AMI CPD.
Please also check the AMI Terms and Conditions regarding booking workshops. There is a cancellation policy, where no refunds will be made if cancellations are made within 4 weeks of the course date.
