The workshop will be delivered by Alan Halewood who has experience of working on Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (MCI) and Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (WMCI) courses at both National Centres.

This workshop will look at the skills and judgement required to manage two clients in a variety of mountain terrains up to grade 2/3 scrambles. It will cover an understanding of fundamental techniques, using as much graded ground as possible in both ascent and descent. There will be an emphasis on good judgement and decision-making as well as technical skill. Main areas to be covered:
• Fundamental technical skills
• Route choice and route finding
• Walking, short roping and short pitching
• Stance management
• Decision making and judgement
Trainees should bring: 50m single rope, scrambling gear rack, personal climbing equipment and boots.
If you are a member of the Mountain Training Association (MTA) you will receive 1 CPD point for attending this workshop. Please note that as a trainee member of AMI you are not required to accrue CPD points, therefore this will not count as AMI CPD.
