Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on purpose built artificial climbing walls and boulders. The scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

Day 1
Arrival, scope of the scheme and Mountain Training
Tour of the climbing wall, teaching areas and paperwork.
BMC statement + warm up games and activities
Personal Climbing with focus on:
- Harness
- Tying in methods
- Using different belay devices
- Climbing influences and history
Managing and Supervising Others
- Teaching People to Climb (Skills Class).
- Appropriate kitting up with a group (Top down)
- Fitting different harnesses
- Teaching how to tie in and belay
- Running an Auto Belay session
- Safeguarding
Planning and structure of sessions
Teaching and learning concepts
Day 2
Roles Responsibilities and Risk Assessing
Managing and Supervising Bouldering
- Risk assessment
- Safety briefing
- Warm ups and low level games
- Progression to height
Personal Lead Climbing
Managing and Supervising Others
- Taister and parties with Bell Ringing
- Variety of directional ground anchors
- Clipping in and karabiner choice
Problem Solving
- Simple solutions to common problems
- Tying off the belay device
Consolidation Period and 1:1 feedback
