Award Description

The Development Coach scheme is designed for people who coach groups and/or individuals for an extended period of time.

This two day course builds on Foundation Coach training and explores the needs of climbers as they develop. Coaching  improvers and high level climbers requires a different skill set (to working with beginners) and this course will explore and develop those skills.

This course is mainly practical but we will spend time in the classroom exploring each of the coaching components before trying them practically.

Having a secure understanding of the technical aspects of climbing (in relation to improvers) is not essential prior to the course but will make it much easier for you. You may also benefit from having attended a BMC/MSCOT Physical Training 1 course although this is not a requirement prior to attending the training.

This course is fully resourced and you will receive templates and supporting documentation to help you as you consolidate.

You will need climbing shoes and a pen/paper and may need a harness/belay device/rope if at a roped centre. An Ipad or phone with a video function will also be needed.
