The course is 9:00 - 16:00 and cost £80 for BMC Members or £99 for Non Members + wall entry fee.
The FUNdamentals of Climbing 2 focuses on the important themes that underpin climbing technique. The days training is aimed at a variety of climbers from those wanting to develop their own climbing knowledge and technique through to those aspirant coaches working towards Mountain Trainings Foundation Coach.
The course covers both theory and practical so please bring a pen and paper and personal climbing equipment. The climbing wall venue will dictate the disciplines of climbing used for example, bouldering, top roping and auto belays so please ensure you are happy and competent to safely operate in the venue hosting the course.

The course will build on FUNdas 1 by looking at more nuanced detail of growth velocity curves and managing highly motivated climbers during growth spurts. Research papers and supportive text will be discussed and referenced for further reading. The practical aspect will consider climbing progression onto vertical and slightly overhanging terrain with a variety of games and focus on balance for clipping lead quickdraws. Basic movement techniques will be explored with an opportunity to explore ecological dynamics and constraints led approach to teaching in corners, aretes and crack. The complexities of twist locks will also be covered.
