Our courses are informative and fun; whether training or assessment we aim to ensure you leave more knowledgeable, skilled and a better leader as a result of the experience. Training: is a 2 day course covers subjects such as planning and organising walks; navigation; group management; equipment; and the responsibilities that are associated with leading a group. The course is very practical and is conducted in the environment you may expect to take groups. To attend you must have logged 10 quality lowland walks (as laid out in the award handbook) or attend a recognised navigation training course such as the NNAS or Mountain Training's Hill Skills course. The course is run on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, making the best the stunning scenery and fantastic walking available. Over two days the majority of the syllabus will be covered through practical exercises, scenarios and discussions carefully crafted to help you gain the knowledge and confidence to become great walk leader in addition to laying a clear pathway to assessment.
