The Mountain Training Association hosted its first good practise and safety management conference. The weekend included presentations and group sessions on: The Adventure activities industry, HSE legislation and accreditation. Safety Management systems and operating procedures and included - Stakeholders expectations - late return policy. - Emergency procedures. - Risk assessments and management - Recording and inspecting equipment. - Professional Standards and accountability. - Near miss, incident reporting and reviewing. - Insurance. -technical advisors. -Mountain Training accreditation. Mountain Training provided some draft documents and information to help develop your own safetly management systems. Key speakers included Gavin Howat CMIOSH, HM Inspector of Health and Safety for the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, John Armstrong and Iain Peter from Adventuremark, Mike Rosser a tecnical expert, Belinda Fear MTA development officer, Matt Davies, Lawyer and specialist in the Adventure travel field and John Cousins Chief Executive MTUK.
