This is a bolting Workshop with a look at safe and efficient access, AMI have managed to get 4 Experts from 4 different fields to give practical workshops and tuition when is comes to bolting Sport Routes. Dan Middleton is the BMC Technical Officer and has run many Bolting Workshops up and down the country. Martin Roberts is from Titan Climbing (www.titanclimbing.com) and knows more about Titanium bolts than anyone. He has been producing and testing them since 2009. Derek Henchley is the General Manager at G&B Fissaggi Uk, they manufacture and distribute bolts and resins worldwide. Nate McMullan holds his MIA (full AMI member) and is a Technical Expert in the field of rock climbing, he is a Founding Member of the Route Setting Association (RSA), is IRATA qualified (Level 2), certified to install, test and inspect fall arrest anchors and has worked in the outdoor adventure industry for over 20 years The Plan is to meet at the Climbing Wall Services Workshop (67 Sorby Street, Sheffield, S4 7LA) at 10:00 for a discussion and practicals about anchor installation, strength, types of anchors, types of resins and how corrosion affects all these. Then you will all decamp to Horseshoe Quarry (S32 5QL) for a more access based tutorial about safe and efficient access methods for bolting and rebolting crags and routes. There is a small cost for this workshop of £35 - please bring CASH on the day. This is purely to cover materials and hire of drills any surplus will be donated to the Peak Bolt Fund. Bring Climbing Kit (Jumars, Gri-gri etc), all clothes, food and helmets.
