All of the latest thinking on climbing rope weight and loading, with practical advice for real-world situations. An absolutely vital talk for climbing coaches, instructors and ropework professionals.
Daniel Gebel, Head of Development at Edelrid and Mountain Guide, will focus this special talk on the latest research into the weight and loading of ropes, and offer practical advice for making considerations in a variety of climbing situations.
Daniel presented a session at the British Moutain Guides AGM last December, with member Paul Warnock quoted as saying “I have changed my working practice on reflection after Daniel's lecture - it has been greatly received and discussed throughout the British climbing community.”
Topics he is planning to cover include:
• Cut resistance of ropes when lowering clients.
• The properties and effects of aramid slings on belay loops when used as cow’s tails.
• Holding leader falls when only one half rope is clipped with various belay plates.
• Considerations for choosing ropes and belay devices depending on situation
• The effects of belaying heavy lead climbers on sports climbs.
