About

About 30 holders of the UIAA UK Diploma of Mountain Medicine are running a BMC supported Mountain Medicine training weekend in Hathersage on 4/5th June. It will be run in small groups and offer five one hour workshops per day. Each group will have two experienced mountain medicine experts with a maximum of 10 people per group. They are keen to have all levels of skill represented and was hoping to arrange BMG CPD Points. Who should I approach? Booking will be taken via the BMC starting in the next few weeks. The course Director is Dr. David Hillebrandt, Chair of the UIAA's Medical Commission. This is currently a draft programme but will give you an insight into what is intended. TEACHING Dave Hillebrandt envisages offering 10 workshops per day and delegates will have to choose five to attend per day. Maximum for any workshop is 8 people. So maximum delegates is 80 per day. Each workshop should have two people offering teaching working together to spread the work and enable 1:4 teaching with some sections. Each workshop will run for one hour with at least 15 minutes to change workshops. There will be a lunch break. Workshops will be outside with possible wet weather alternatives for some. Dave plans to run 10 workshops per day. Day one is UK Crag and Mountain Medicine, Day two is Alps and Beyond mountain medicine. I would see us having the workshops listed above with those marked UK for day one, those marked A for day two but some can run on both days but the emphasis will change from UK on day one to Alps and beyond on day two. SOCIAL Sat eve BBQ will be included in the course fee. (venue to be determined). Hope to have BMC supported lecture or Films somewhere on sat Evening. No outside bar to encourage use of local pubs since I am keen to encourage use of local shops and pubs and cafes.
