Award Description
The Hill and Moorland Leader award is designed for people who want to lead groups in the hill and moorland areas of the UK and Ireland. This award is a wonderful opportunity to learn the leadership skills required to feel confident about taking people out walking. As you may have guessed from the descriptive title of this award, it focuses on non-mountainous terrain.
This is a non-residential assessment course based out of our Outdoor Learning base in East Lothian using the East Lothian countryside, Pentland, Lammermuir and Fife hills. We will provide maps and can provide other equipment if required. The course will run from 9am to 5:00pm on the first and third day. The middle day will end later to allow for night navigation. The beginning of each day will start at our base, or at an agreed prearranged venue. (A reduced price is available for ELC teachers and community group leaders.)
