Award Description

This qualification is designed to enable coaches to be more effective in coaching the fundamental movement skills of climbing. Foundation Coaches will usually be concerned with the stimulating delivery of a single session to a group of individuals. 

Run by some of the UK's most experienced and knowledgable instructors. The course only fee includes your course plus equipment hire (if you need it), use of facilities (e.g. climbing wall, drying rooms, free WiFi etc.) and tea and cakes when you get in each day.

The residential course fee includes all the above plus comfy en-suite accommodation and all your meals.

You want to engage and inspire climbers when you're teaching them foundation skills so that they'll become as passionate about the sport as you are. Our one day Foundation Coach training course focuses on three main areas; the coaching skills and knowledge of what, and how, to coach more effectively; the technical competence to manage and deliver an enjoyable and stimulating session, usually to a group of individuals; and the culture of reflective practice in striving for continual improvement.

Prior to attending a Foundation Coach training course you must;

• Be at least 16 years old
• Be a member of a mountaineering council
• Have at least 6 months personal climbing experience
• Have attended a FUNdamentals of Climbing 1 workshop
