Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on purpose built artificial climbing walls and boulders. The scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.
This Climbing Wall Instructor training course will be Directed by Jon Chamberlain, a highly experienced Mountaineering Instructor (MIA) and climbing Development Coach. It will be based in the North West of England at two of the regions premier climbing walls.
The prerequisites for registration are as follows:
• You must be at least 17 years old (18 at assessment)
• You should have at least 6 months of experience of using a variety of climbing walls
• You should have an interest in climbing and in supervising groups on climbing walls
If you are interested in attending one of our training courses:-
1. Create an account on the Mountain Training Associations Candidate Management System or log in if you already have one.
2. Register for the Climbing Wall Instructor scheme (this costs £42)
3. Book onto an Adventure Training North East Climbing Wall Instructor course
Courses run over two days, with a minimum contact time of 6 hours per day. They typically start at 9.30am and finish at 4.30pm. They are non-residential.
Costs do not include climbing wall entry fees.
