Do you want to make the transition from walking and rock climbing in summer conditions to venturing outdoors in winter conditions? This short lecture takes you through topics such as clothing, equipment, the weather, avalanches, emergency shelters, use of axe and crampons and winter climbing. Anyone is welcome. This annual lecture is free and ends with a Q & A session and advice on where to go for winter adventures.
The lecture will be delivered by Jon Punshon. Jon holds the highest UK based qualification - MIC and has been instructing rock climbing and mountaineering in the North of England since 1990. Based in Newcastle Jon runs courses snow and ice climbing in Scotland.
