‘A community of practice is a group of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do, and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly’
This event is open to all AMI members (Full, trainee, newly passed etc) and not solely those residing in North Wales.
An informal get together for AMI members with no fixed agenda, so members can turn up and climb/scramble/walk or can split into smaller ‘topic led’ groups before heading out. Hopefully we can get some good discussion going and share ideas on work, venue, equipment, current best practice, access and maybe even fill a few slots in summer diaries. Many members work alone the majority of the year, so an opportunity to share ideas in a social setting can be really beneficial.
For trainees, it might provide an insight into operating as a Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor after your assessment and not necessarily provide the answers you need to pass your assessment.
Just turn up on the evening with some kit and be prepared to get involved. Hopefully everyone will bring something to the table and gain from the experience.
Please note that this session will not automatically count as CPD. If after the event you feel that the topics covered are worthy of CPD points, you can submit a short note of syllabus covered and your reasons for why this should be counted as CPD to the AMI regional rep for board approval.
If you have any topics or would be keen to take the initial lead on a small group discussion, or you have any questions feel free to contact me on sjonesmountaineering@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Simon Jones
North Wales Regional Representative
