Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
This is a SPLIT WEEKEND SML course
Saturday to Monday both weekends
Weekend 1 - 22/23/24 May
Weekend 2 - 29/30/31 May
All our SML courses at Falkirk Outdoors will be directed by John Jackson (WMCI).
At Falkirk Outdoors we believe mountain training courses should be run outside and in the mountains as much as possible. Sounds simple and obvious.
Our central Scotland location means you can enjoy the mountains by day and still get back to your own bed at night. Please remember, the final 2 days, 1 night will be spent out on exped.
We have an abundance of outdoor training venues to use, all within a short(ish) drive away from our centre. Transport from Falkirk each day will be in one of our centre minibuses (included in the course fee).
Our Base in Falkirk is located a short walk away from Falkirk Train and bus station. Public transport runs regularly to Falkirk from all across central Scotland including from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling.
If you have any questions about this course, then please feel free to contact John via the ‘enquire’ button, email or text.
Private courses are available for groups of 4 or more people on dates and locations to suit.
