Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to teach lead climbing skills on indoor or outdoor artificial climbing walls and structures with fixed protection. It builds on the skills acquired in either the Climbing Wall Instructor or Rock Climbing Instructor schemes, one of which candidates must hold to access the Climbing Wall Development Instructor scheme.

Climbing Wall Development Instructor Training Course

Welcome to this Roxcool course where you will learn, teach, be inspired and generally have fun in a positive learning environment.  The tutors are all experienced and enthusiastic climbers and instructors with years (some with too much) of experience.  This course runs over one long day and is based from Sunderland Wall.

• Friday 0900 to 1700 Sunderland Wall

PLEASE NOTE: The price given is an all inclusive price and includes: Wall entry, and all administration. 

• You need to be 18 years of age at the commencement of this course.
• Hold either the Climbing Wall Instructor or the Rock Climbing Instructor
• Have led 50 routes
• Have climbed at 3 different major climbing walls
• Have belayed a lead climber 50 times
• Have lead 25 routes at grade F6a on indoor climbing walls
• Have 20 supervising sessions after passing either Climbing Wall Instructor or Rock Climbing Instructor qualifications. At least 5 of these sessions must have personal reflective comments recorded on DLOG
