Transceiver Training - Half Day PM

Avalanche is probably the greatest potential danger the winter hill-goer is exposed too and understanding avalanche mechanisms and security as a group leader is paramount. The workshop will look specifically at transceivers from theory to practical tasks and training exercises to help understanding and learning. The workshop is designed to run without snow. During the workshop we will cover the following areas:
- Transceivers in general
- Understanding antennas
- Interference
- Transceiver checks as an IML
- Practicing with single and multiple 'burials'
- Transceivers and the 15-minute client training session
Equipment
The workshop will be partly indoors and outside in the hotel grounds so bring suitable attire for both.
Please bring a pen and paper and a transceiver with batteries. There will be a couple of extra transceivers available.

Peter Chapman has been an IML for 13 years and a winter mountaineer for more than 20. He is based in Denmark and is the Scandinavian rep for BAIML. Peter works mostly in the Nordic countries and Scotland. Winter is his favourite environment and he has previously taught avalanche skills on many private courses and for BAIML.
