Mountain Trail Running for IMLs - Full Day
Workshop content
This session is for IMLs who are interested in running on the trails and in the mountains with groups. We will share ideas about how this impacts on our group management, runners’ expectations, planning and preparation. We will also cover aspects such as nutrition, coaching ascent and descent techniques, use of poles, navigation, pacing and timing and looking after our bodies as runners.
As a guideline, for this session you should be able to run 15km and ideally would have some experience of running on trails and in the mountain environment
Equipment
As a minimum you should bring FRA mandatory kit; map (tbc), compass, whistle, hat, gloves, waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, bumbag/race vest, fell/trail running shoes (not road shoes), reserve of food, emergency blanket/bag, extra warm layer, bottle / flask of minimum 1 litre, head torch. Optional items you may find useful include; altimeter, GPS watch, running poles. Weather on the day will of course dictate any additions / adaptations to this list e.g. extra layers of clothing as will your previous experience and personal preferences.
