Advanced Navigation Skills - Full Day
The day will be spent on the hill, looking at navigation practically. We will aim to refresh how we use contours in our navigation, and how we can translate this to navigating in all seasons and on a variety of map types. This workshop will suit a range of members from those looking to refresh or improve their skills, teach and assess others or preparing for assessments. Main themes we will aim to look at include:
Map memory
Contour only navigation
Strategies using contours alone
Teaching contours
Relocation methods
Using the map alone
Choosing appropriate navigation points - for ourselves and training and assessing others
Other specifics required by the workshop members
There will be plenty of opportunities to practice, test and teach navigation throughout the day for those that would welcome this.
