Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.

These courses are run under the umbrella of Pete Hill WMCI, one of the UK's foremost and best-known MTS-accredited course providers. This course is being directed by Matt Heffer WMCI, a highly skilled and experienced MTS-registered director with a wealth of knowledge.

Our courses are renowned for being of the highest quality, pitched for the best learning experience combined with a sensitive approach to the teaching of the syllabus. Expect to be learning and not being thrashed around the hills!

Based at Badaguish in the Glenmore area in the superb Cairngorm mountains, we have access to a variety of excellent training areas whatever the weather.

Discounted camping and WigWam accommodation is available at Badaguish and they come with access to great drying facilities and other essentials.
