Markus Landro, PhD, Co-leader of the Norwegian Avalanche Forecasting Service NVE, IFMGA. Markus became a mountain guide at a very young age and has worked as an independent guide for many years, continuously building up his interest in snow and avalanches. As the author of the first modern avalanche book in Norwegian and avalanche instructor of the Norwegian Mountain Guide Association, Markus had the unique opportunity to be part of the creation of the Norwegian avalanche forecasting service and recently finished his PhD. Markus is the IFMGA representative in the MountainSafety.info workgroup for “Avalanche Prevention and Risk Management”.

Lukas Duerr, MSc, avalanche forecaster Swiss Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF, IFMGA. As a forest engineer and IFMGA mountain guide, Lukas works full time as an avalanche forecaster and is avalanche instructor in the Swiss Mountain Guide Association.

Montse Bacardit, PhD, avalanche forecaster, UIMLA, CAA Level 3, ISMM Diploma Mountain Medicine. As a biologist specialized in the eco-system of mountain lakes, UIMLA mountain leader, avalanche forecaster at the Val d’Aran Avalanche Center in the Pyrenees, active instructor and training commission member of the Spanish Avalanche Association ACNA, Montse has a broad scale understanding of the mountain environment. In MountainSafety.info, Montse has translated all MSi content into Catalan and is actively involved in the development of the content as a work group member.

Manuel Genswein, Founder of MountainSafety.info. Manuel has been working for 29 years in research and development in the domain of avalanche safety and rescue. His wide range of activity includes publications in risk perception and management, rescue and medical protocols, operational avalanche risk management, UIAA equipment safety standards as well as the development of search devices. Manuel is teaching in 30 countries, mainly focusing on “train the trainers” programs.

Sven Christjar Skaiaa, MSc, MD, IFMGA. Sven Christjar is working as a mountain rescue physician in the Norwegian 330-Squadron helicopter rescue system. As a specialist in anesthesiology and critical care, founder of the Norwegian Society of Mountain Medicine and IFMGA mountain guide, Sven Christjar is familiar to all aspects of mountain rescue and emergency mountain medicine, from companion rescue to complex, large scale organized missions in the mountains, in the ocean and in the arctic.
