Tranciever Training (half day session)
Avalanche is probably the greatest potential danger the winter hill-goer is exposed too and understanding avalanche mechanisms and security as a group leader is paramount. The workshop will look specifically at transceivers from theory to practical tasks and training exercises to help understanding and learning. The workshop is designed to run without snow. During the workshop we will cover the following areas:
- Transceivers in general
- Understanding antennas
- Interference
- Transceiver checks as an IML
- Practicing with single and multiple 'burials' - methods
- 15-minute client training session
The workshop will be indoors to start and outside in the hotel grounds so bring suitable attire for both.
Equipment needed
Please bring a pen and paper and a transceiver with batteries. There will be a couple of extra transceivers available.
