Avalanche Medicine (half day session)
A PowerPoint presentation interspersed with practical hands-on activities outside. It should focus on a more in depth understanding of difficulties encountered with avalanche victims and optimising care from the 'strike' to 'handover'. |
Equipment needed
Transceiver, shovel and probe (if possible) and clothing suitable for short sessions outside.

This workshop will be delivered by Alun Thomas. Alun is an IML, AAC übungsleiter skihochtouren and army dental officer responsible for dental care and reach-back advice for entitled MoD patients overseas. Previously, he was in charge of a mobile critical care station with damage control surgery and CBRN capabilities.
He has delivered avalanche awareness and search techniques to Austrian Alpine Club members and to outdoor professionals and laypeople through the Diploma in Mountain Medicine.
