This 2-day CPD event will be run at various locations dependant on weather and snow conditions. Possibilities include but not exclusive to: Les Mont D’Olmes ski area and surrounding area, Camarac ski area, Col de Marmare, Col de Chioula, Mont Fourcat, Foret de Belesta, Belcaire.
Please bring the following equipment:
- Snowshoes
- TPS
- Walking rope
- Slings & karabinas
- Poles
- Walking axe
- Normal IML safety kit when working with a group
- Appropriate winter clothing
- Packed lunches and beverages.

- transceiver checks (start of day, range and group)

- route choice
- terrain traps and terrain traps
- single and multiple burial searches
- Evening lecture on avalanche awareness
Workshop Programme - Day 2
- weather and avalanche forecasts
- transceiver checks
- movement techniques on snow shoes
- snow belays - buried axe and bollard
- step cutting steps
- cutting blocks to make a shelter
The workshop will be led by David Norris who is a working IML and WMCI who is resident in France. Dave has over 30 years of mountaineering experience and works throughout France, in the Pyrenees, Andorra and winter courses in Scotland.
