This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on purpose built artificial climbing walls and boulders. The scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.
The Climbing Wall Instructor assessment course is a one day event spent at the Beacon Climbing Centre.
The assessment is practical based and will have the option for the Abseil Module. There will also be a home research paper to complete.
To attend the course you'll need to have completed the CWI training (or RCI training and been granted exemption) and fulfilled the requirements below:
30 climbing wall sessions.
40 lead climbs.
