Award Description
Our Rock Skills courses are designed to provide structured training opportunities for people who want to learn more and become independent climbers. There are three different levels so that complete beginners and those with more experience can choose the most appropriate starting point.

Rock Skills Intermediate
Llanberis, Snowdonia
The Rock Skills Intermediate course is your stepping stone to developing into a competent second climber so you can get out climbing with more experienced lead climbers and build your experience. With an extra day on this course and lower ratio than the Rock Skills Intro, we’ll get even more rock climbing in and develop your movement and climbing technique.
Our courses are delivered from our Basecamp, right on the high street in Llanberis, Snowdonia and include all the technical equipment, as well as free tea & coffee. Our ethos is to run fun, friendly and relaxed courses to develop your confidence and skills.
Course Aims
By the end of this course you’ll have;
- An enjoyable time climbing on real rock
- Have the skills to competently second a lead climber and climb with others independently
- Look at the skills to set up top rope systems to climb on
- Be ready to move on to a Learn to Lead Sport or Learn to Lead Trad course
Our Basecamp provides a quiet, private space for Mountain Independence where we run morning meetings and evening lectures; equipped with facilities for weather briefings, presentations and resources. Llanberis itself is a great base, with lots of local crags, plenty of accommodation options, and good transport links.
With tea and coffee included in the package; finishing the course with a slice of cake is just the icing on the, well....
