WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
Due to some feedback from our central Scotland night nav sessions we are running this day time peer led navigation session for TRAINEE Mountain Leaders preparing for assessment.
You must have completed your ML training.
When on assessment, Relocate is a term that you may hear on a regular basis. You need to be confident enough to read the ground around you to be able to confidently show your assessor where you are on the map.
Due to feedback we are limiting the numbers on this workshop to 6 people so each person can maximise their learning opportunities throughout the day.
This session may be ideal for those who have been deferred on a previous assessment or feel they need to build their confidence in navigation to book their assessment.
I will set certain points to navigate to and each person can then take a turn navigating. There will be plenty of opportunities for each person to practice. We can then discuss the various strategies people have used. What worked, what didn't work. This way we increase your 'toolkit' so that you have access to all the options when on assessment.
Whether you are leading the leg or following the leader, it is important that you are able to read the land around you at all times. We will practice, practice and then practice some more
EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED
We will be out in The Pentland Hills all day so you should be dressed/prepared for a mountain day.
I will have 1:25,000 Harvey maps that people can borrow for the day.
Prior to leaving the car park we will make sure we have sufficient first aid kits and shelters to cover the group
CATERING/FOOD
Once we leave the car park thjat will be us for the day so bring all food/drink that you wish. If you are happy to carry it, bring it.
