Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.

Carolclimb has been running Mountain Leader Training for over 15 years. Our courses always have a female instructor, me! We are based in the heart of the Lake District here in Wasdale, with fantastic facilities at YHA Wastwater. Once you are here you do not need to get in a car until you drive home, as we walk straight out of the building onto the hill. So there is none of the day lost in minibuses. We do not beast people but instead "take the map for a walk". Our courses are rich with content and allow time for each individual to have a go at all the elements of the course, not just watch.
