Award Description
The Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required for instructing mountaineering, including all aspects of summer rock climbing, including the coaching of lead climbing, and scrambling. It builds on the skills acquired in the Mountain Leader qualification, which candidates must hold. The Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor is an extensively used professional qualification.
This qualification was previously called the Mountaineering Instructor Award (MIA).
The Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor Training course provides training for instructors working in summer conditions. The syllabus includes multi-pitch rock climbing, scrambling and other mountaineering skills. Also included are training, assessing and coaching processes.
This course provides you with an opportunity for discussing and sharing ideas through a structured and progressive programme. Please come with an open mind and prepared to contribute lots of ideas and experience.
