Award Description
The Hill & Mountain Skills scheme is a great way to develop your personal skills and confidence in all elements of hill and mountain walking. From planning a coastal walk to navigating in complex terrain, these courses are an ideal opportunity to learn the basics and enjoy the countryside. THIS IS NOT THE HILL AND MOORLAND LEADER SCHEME.
About
A Hill Skills course is your key to getting started in countryside and moorland walking. No previous hill walking experience is required because the content of the course is aimed at beginners.
If you do have some experience of hill walking but feel you lack confidence to plan walks, navigate and understand the equipment required, then a Hill Skills course is an ideal way to develop that confidence.
We run our courses to ensure you leave with a solid foundation of skills to get out and about as soon as possible and embed all the tips and tricks learnt during one of our courses.
Venue:
The courses are based from the amazing village of Malham, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. With great walking from the village available, it isn't hard to see why this is one of the most popular locations in the National Park.
Accommodation options:
There are several accommodation options in the village, including campsites, YHA, pubs, hotels and cottages, to fit most budgets. The pubs and restaurants in the village offer a whole range of food options as well, and having tried most of them, it's always a tough pick.
Skipton is also about a 30min drive away and offers various options for accommodation and many different dietary options.
