Award Description

The Hill and Moorland Leader award is designed for people who want to lead groups in the hill and moorland areas of the UK and Ireland. This award is a wonderful opportunity to learn the leadership skills required to feel confident about taking people out walking. As you may have guessed from the descriptive title of this award, it focuses on non-mountainous terrain.

The Location:

This course will be based in the Upper Swansea Valley, giving easy access to the best walking areas in the Western Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. It is accessed easily from the M4 and there are a wide range of accommodation options available close by. The area is blessed with a variety of terrain for us to explore including hills, mountain and moors, giving us an ideal location to help you learn the skills and knowledge required by a Hill & Moorland Leader.

The Course:

We like to keep things practical and enjoyable, building strong foundations indoors on the first morning, then heading out to give you as many learning opportunities as we can, as well as providing the best experience possible. Our courses are tailored to focus on people and their needs, recognising that everyone is on their own learning journey.

The People:

We are experienced outdoor professionals with a background in providing training and support for organisations and individuals in Walking, Climbing, Caving and Outdoor First Aid.
