Trusting gear placements and making accurate judgements comes from time spent weighting gear. By physically testing our placements, our understanding becomes much more than just theory.
This practical workshop is a day at the crag, testing and learning how good your placements are in a safe, supportive single pitch environment with peers.
It’s an opportunity to sharpen your judgement, go beyond the ‘bomber wire’ and confront the uncertainty about placement quality that we deal with on many trad climbs. We’ll also explore a framework of practical testing progressions suitable for all abilities from novice upward.
This workshop is for trad climbers, coaches and instructors leading at VD or above. For AMI members I offer a more advanced workshop under the same title.
This workshop is being run by John Kettle, Lakes-based WMCI, author and full time climbing coach, who has been falling off trad routes for over 25 years.
