Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by Rock Climbing Instructor will be roped climbing and bouldering. This scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

This is a private training course, but we may be able to accommodate extra bookings if you are a pair or more of people please get in touch and we'll discuss to see if we can accommodate extra bookings.

Our courses are delivered from our private Basecamp space, right on the high street in Llanberis, Snowdonia and include free tea & coffee. Our ethos is to run fun, friendly, and relaxed courses to develop your confidence and skills as an instructor.

The Rock Climbing Instructor qualification (the qualification formerly known as Single Pitch Award) is all about supervising safe climbing and abseil sessions on single pitch crags and indoor walls. Whether you’re a parent, a volunteer or an outdoor instructor, the Rock Climbing Instructor qualification trains and assesses rock climbers to instruct climbing.

In addition to our experience of delivering the Rock Climbing Instructor scheme, we are active and current Climbing Instructors ourselves. We’re passionate climbers and the only thing we love more than teaching climbing, is developing motivated instructors.

One of the best things about our course is the amazing variety of venues on offer. In the evenings you can make the most of being in North Wales and get out for a bit of personal climbing on some of the best crags in the country.

Our Basecamp provides a quiet, private space for Mountain Independence where we run morning meetings and evening lectures; equipped with facilities for weather briefings, presentations and resources. Llanberis itself is a great base, with plenty of accomodation options, and good transport links. 

With tea and coffee included in the package; finishing the course with a slice of cake is just the icing on the, well....
