Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on purpose built artificial climbing walls and boulders. The scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

Climbing Wall Instructor Assessment

Our courses start from our Basecamp, right on the high street in Llanberis, Snowdonia and include free tea & coffee. Our ethos is to run fun, friendly and relaxed assessments so you can perform your best and show off your skills!

We also off the optional Abseil Module Assessment which is an additional 2-3hrs straight after the CWI Assessment finishes and is discounted down to £25 (from £45) for those also booked on this assessment.

In addition to our experience of delivering the Climbing Wall Instructor award scheme, we are active and current Climbing Instructors ourselves. We’re passionate climbers and the only thing we love more than teaching climbing, is developing motivated instructors. In addition to hopefully seeing you pass your award, we're all about preparing Climbing Wall Instructors for working with tips and career advice.

We strive to provide a relaxed, friendly atmosphere on our Climbing Wall Instructor Assessments so candidates perform at their very best. Even though you’re on assessment, our aim is to provide development and learning opportunities for you to not just pass your award, but improve your instructional skills.

Our Basecamp provides a quiet, private space for Mountain Independence where we'll run the morning brief with tea and coffee. It's a relaxed environment to run through the homepaper before we'll head to a local climbing wall such as the Beacon or the Indy.
