Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.

About

Training prerequisites: You must be registered on the scheme. You must have an up to date logbook (preferably DLOG) with evidence of 20 varied Quality Mountain Days minimum.

This is a split weekend course, witth two blocks of 3 days

We start at 10 am on the Fridays.

Great for those who dont want to give up a full week, and a chance to consolidate knowledge and skills between the two weekends.

Course Director... Andy Brown WMCI & IML

I have been running split weekend courses for 43 years.

My long experience delivering mountain training courses makes it easy for me to innovate and vary delivery to meet individual candidates needs.

We run this course on a non residential basis i.e. people sort their own accommodation 'weekend 1'. That allows people to make their own choices of where to stay. We arrange a proper campsite 'weekend 2' on the Friday and we are on expedition wild camping on the Saturday.

The course commences indoors at the Braithwaite Village Institute just outside Keswick on the 20th September at 10 am.
