‘Cave rigging and SRT rescue techniques – adding to the toolbox’
AMI full member CPD
A SURFACE BASED workshop looking at the some of the techniques and equipment used in the British Caving Association Vertical Leader and Cave Instructors Certificate schemes, and how they may be of use in the WMCI/MCI improvised rescue toolbox. The course will run with minimum 3, maximum 4 participants.
The workshop is practical and will include:
Rigging - knots cavers use and their applications in crag rigging
Equipment – specific items of kit that may prove useful as ‘crossover’ kit for practising MIs
Rescue techniques – practical haul techniques, options for escaping the system and the exotic ‘Spanish Pendulum’and Orbendorf Lift….
Ascending ropes
The day will encourage climbers to look at the way cavers use ropes and explore how this may enhance their skill set for other applications
