PT1
This is a mainly practical workshop that will equip you to profile a climber and write a short term plan relevant to their goals. The course is very much aimed at climbers who are at the 'learn to train' phase which is very different from higher performing climbers with a substantial base of climbing technique and climbing/training history.
We'll cover in detail:
Physical demands of various climbing disciplines
Energy systems
Types of training
Off the wall training: core work, pull ups and finger boarding
On the wall exercises for strength
On the wall exercises for endurance
On the wall exercises for strength endurance
It's a relaxed workshop which is typically aimed at climbing coaches but also attended by climbers.
You'll have plenty of opportunity to take part in the practical activities which will help to deepen your understanding, and, in turn make planning training elements easier.
This course will provide you with a whole host of information and importantly, will provide structure to support you as you develop your coaching expertise.
You will need climbing shoes and a pen/paper and may need a harness/belay device if at a roped centre.
