National Provider Conference 2024

Mountain Training England and Mountain Training Cymru

This is a conference for all currently approved providers and course staff for leadership and skills schemes for Mountain Training England and Mountain Training Cymru held at Plas Y Brenin. 

The theme of the conference is ‘effective training and fair assessment’ and the workshops will focus on benchmarking the standards of training and assessment that we provide for candidates and participants. The conference will provide an update from MountainTraining and the BMC along with a session on engaging with the ever broadening range of people we deliver to.

Please choose 3 workshops - one per session (one on Thursday afternoon and two on Friday morning)

This is a biennial event supported by Sport England. Attendance satisfies the three yearly update requirement to maintain tutor/ course director approval and is accredited 1 cpd point by the associations.

Friday 26th April:

12:45 - 13:00      Plenary session and closing remarks

Thursday

Workshops 1 & 2. Mandatory workshop for qualification directors only – choose between climbing or walking:

Skills tutors may choose one workshop from the four:

4. Teaching belay construction

5. Teaching navigation & GPS

6. Teaching incident management

Friday

These sessions are repeated. Please choose two from the list. The first session runs from 9:15 - 10:45, the second session is 11:00 - 12:30.

Please do not book onto the same session twice.

To meet your course director / tutor update requirements, please attend all sessions including three workshops.
