Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
Directed by one on the Britain's most experienced Course Directors, assisted by another very experienced mountaineering instructor, this assessment course will use the mountains of Northern Snowdonia to provide a platform for candidates to demonstrate their competence both as mountain walkers and mountain leaders, as defined by the syllabus and prospectus of the Mountain Leader Award scheme.
This split-weekend course will run over five days, the actual course dates being: Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September AND Friday 6th to Sunday 8th September.
This is a non-residential course based in the very popular hillwalking location of Llanberis and allows candidates freedom to choose their own level of accommodation, remembering the nights of the second weekend will be spent camping.
