Workshop Content & Learning Outcomes:
This free peer-led event will provide an opportunity for members of the East Midlands & Anglia Region to get together in a relaxed setting to walk and talk.
This day walk will take in the Lanes, Trails and New Wood in and around East Leake covering aproximately 19.00km. over mildly undulating countryside. An area providing plenty of contour features including re-entrants and spurs. Highlights will include a visit to St Peter's in the Rushes which has 18th Century grave stones, Hoton Hills "Ridge" taking in the views of Stanford Hall, now the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre, passing an old Ordnance Survey Triangulation Station known as Cold Harbour, a Ha Ha on the entrance to the West Leake church yard and Fox Hillat 95m the highest part of the walk.
There will be opportunitites to visit churches at Stanford-on-Soar and West Leake and to test out if we can use these as navigation aids. Along the way we can discuss all things Lowland Walking and using the 5D's of Navigation and other methods to teach navigation.
