Award Description

The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking.

The Lowland Leader Scheme enables walkers experienced in low-level terrain to lead groups on walks in the countryside and woodland areas in the UK and Ireland in summer conditions. It is ideal for Scouts, Guides, Health Walk Leaders, Ramblers, The Duke of Edinburgh Award etc.

Ullswater Outdoor Adventures are ApprovedProviders for Lowland Leader Training and Assessment Courses and the Camping Leader Award. The courses will be delivered by highly experienced and knowledgeable instructors and we run courses in Lancashire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester and Yorksire. Our courses are delivered over 2 days and are non residential.

There will be lots of opportunities over the course to cover key elements of the syllabus and put skills into practice.

Before you book on a Lowland Leader Training Course please make sure you 

• are at least 17 years old

• have registered for the Lowland Leader Scheme (this is currently £65)

• have recorded a minimum of 10 varied walks in lowland terrain OR have attended a walking and navigation training skills course recognised by Mountain Training, eg Hill Skills Course.
