A new course to complement the exisiting Climbing for All course and is targetted towards people who Technical Advise and/or Manage a climbing facility
The Climbing for All syllabus is a comprehensive program designed to equip instructors with the necessary skills to make climbing environments more accessible and inclusive.
With over two decades of history, the course has been pivotal in reducing barriers to participation in climbing activities. It is structured into equal parts theory and practice; the theoretical component focuses on building a deeper understanding of how different models of disability can either create or diminish barriers for individuals with disabilities.
The goal of this session is to enhance the proficiency of technical advisors, ensuring they are well-informed about the course content. This will enable them to offer superior support to participants who have completed the program but may not be equipped to handle the technical components or drive change within their organization to accommodate diverse skill sets. By doing so, we aim to foster an environment where all attendees, regardless of their initial capability, can benefit from and contribute to the full spectrum of the course offerings.

Dave Hollingham
Working in the Outdoors for over 30 years, Dave has been involved in all different aspects of delivering activities from running his own business to managing a busy outdoor centre. Dave started pursuing a career in the outdoors while living in North Wales in the early 1990’s. This built on his existing experience as a sailor, climber and mountaineer. Energetically exploring the local opportunities for adventure led to several watersports qualifications and gaining the MCI while also working for a range of different providers and running his own guiding business. He moved to the Lake District in 2002 and continued to develop experience in new activities such as mountain biking, caving and mine exploration. He has worked away in several areas of the UK such as Pembrokeshire, Peak District and Scotland as well as expedition work in South America. A highlight of his working calendar is to head to Scotland and guide people scrambling in the mountains, especially on the Cuillin of Skye.
Previous roles include freelance work, instructor roles at LEA Centres, Adventure Training for the military, Head of Centre at Longrigg and Senior Tutor at the Bendrigg Trust, a specialist provider of outdoor activities to people with disabilities. Dave is now freelance as a Technical Advisor and Instructor and is working towards becoming a Trainer/Assessor for the BCA.
