Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
About
The Summer Mountain Leader run by Leading Edge is designed for people who want to lead groups in the mountains, hills and moorlands of the UK and Ireland. If you love being out in the mountains and want to share your enthusiasm with others, become a Mountain Leader.
Leading edge offer a relaxed, open and friendly course, progressivally taking you through the key group management, navigation and environmental elements.
We will help you develop, hone and polish your personal skills, all the time imparting teaching and coaching techniques you can use when working with others.
We will meet on the first morning at Tyn Y Coed Hotel in Capel Curig. The course starts with an informal chat and an outline of the Mountain Leader qualification, then it's off out into the mountains.
At the end of a six fantastic days you will leave inspired, motivated and with a personal action plan of what you need to do before coming forward for assessment.
