Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by Rock Climbing Instructor will be roped climbing and bouldering. This scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

The Rock Climbing Instructor qualification run by Leading Edge is all about supervising safe climbing and abseiling sessions on single pitch crags.
Leading Edge run a modern course, it’s up to date with modern techniques, current thinking and professional best practice. It is highly interactive with the emphasis definitely being on as much hands on practice and consolidation as possible, all under pinned with a mix of technical and theoretical input.
We will meet at excellent and friendly Tyn-Y-Coed Hotel in Capel Curig where we will have an informal chat to start the course and outline the scope of the Rock Climbing Instructor.
At Leading Edge we strive to deliver a relaxed, open and friendly course. We will progressively take you through the key elements of being a Rock Climbing Instructor. We will help you develop, hone and polish your personal skills, all the time imparting teaching and coaching techniques you can use when working with others. You will leave inspired, motivated and with a personal action plan of what you need to do before coming forward for assessment.
