Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead walking groups in winter conditions in the mountains. The use of crampons and axes is covered in the scheme. It builds on the skills acquired in the Mountain Leader qualification, which candidates must hold to access the Winter Mountain Leader scheme.
About
Scotch on the Rocks Guiding (SOTRG) foster a relaxed atmosphere with the aim to get the very best out of our candidates. Over the 6 days of training we will look at all the key elements of the syllabus through a mixture of practical and theory based sessions.
The Winter Mountain Leader Courses are delivered by experienced staff who have a wealth of experience of not only delivering Winter Mountain Leader Courses but also doing the job of a Winter Mountain Leader. This not only allows us to prepare you well for assessments but also the practicalities of working as a Winter Mountain Leader and helping you develop for a life long career in the outdoors.
For Winter 2025 we are basing our courses from Aviemore, were we meet each morning will depend on the venue for the day.
