Boot Routes, which is based in West Yorkshire, at the Northern end of the Peak District is run by Darren Parkinson who is an experienced Mountain Leader and has a real passion for the outdoors. Boot Routes run monthly navigation courses on behalf of NNAS (Nagional Navigation Award Scheme), along with welfare walks for West Yorkshire Police, and Walking for Health walks for Kirklees Council.
In addition to the mandatory First Aid certificate, Darren also holds a Mental Health First Aid certificate, along with a DBS certificate and liability insurance.
Being a former Wildlife Crime Officer in West Yorkshire Police, Darren specialises in wildlife and nature walks and also runs wildlife photography workshops. Darren has also secured a part time job with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust at Spurn Point running guided walks, bird tours and photography workshops.
Boot Routes now runs Hill Skills and Mountain Skills courses for Mountain Training.
In his spare time Darren is a member of Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team.
